Mark started his professional real estate career in 1982 when he joined the Western U.S. Division of New York-based Tishman Management and Leasing Corporation, which at the time, was California’s largest owner/operator of urban core high-rise office buildings.
Mark left Tishman in 1987 and began assembling investor groups to acquire distressed commercial property during the market downturn of the late eighties and early nineties. In 1992, he assumed executive leadership and acquired a 50% interest in his father’s small property management business. By the year 1999 when Mark completed his acquisition of 100% of the newly renamed Hall Equities Group, Mark had transformed the organization into a diversified full-service income-property investor, developer, and property manager.
Today, Mark leads a diverse business ecosystem. In addition to Hall Equities Group, his portfolio includes a nationwide hotel operating and investment company currently covering 57 limited service, extended stay, and boutique hotels (ZMC Hotels); a modular building manufacturing business (Modology); a real estate, investment, development, and management business that invests in sports-oriented properties (Global SportsMall Realty); a holding company with synergistic interests in product development, sports business concept development, and early-stage business investment management (COPA Innovation Laboratories); a digital media production company (Vertical Creative Studios); and other business entities specializing in a wide array of industries.
